It’s been awhile.
Lot’s of “firsts” in the past couple of weeks. Also… lots of “lasts”, I hope. Regardless, things have supposedly been taken care of, and I hope to have less hope in the meantime.
Yeap, I’m dodging bullets and walking on eggshells. But I think we’ll keep things at that. I’ve realized some of the stuff I put up here really isn’t made for consumption by everyone, so I’m going to become even more careful about what goes up here. Reading some of the past posts I’ve written recently, it doesn’t seem like that has been a problem in a while. But alas, I can’t be careful enough. Josh Kim likes to go off on personal tangents now and then…
An interesting sidenote: It took awhile for the site traffic to decrease. I’m not sure what would have caused this… maybe the feed readers use some kind of backoff variable to see if the site is refreshed. Or… people have been, for some reason, visiting my site, looking at the same old posts over and over again. I guess I’ll have to dip into the logs for that info.
What happened with Yahoo! is unfortunate. If some of you didn’t know, I didn’t get the position. A lot of things I learned from the experience, but one definitely stands out: How much my skillset is out of date.
Sure, it’s good that I have all these past experience, but really, I need to download some more knowledge. I don’t necessarily think that the web has gotten more insane since the last time I did a self-started project. It might be that I’m a lot less motivated these days. It could also be that the focus of my life changed since JKmain Journals. For better or for worse, it changed.
The current plan is to launch my Social RSS Feed Reader. This will be my first foray into the world of entrepreneurship, as well as what the cool (or not-so cool, depending on who you’re talking to) cats call “Web 2.0″. I’ll be putting up a detailed business plan… when I get around to writing a full business plan. Ugh. Regardless, while this is going on, I’ll be honing my skills as a front-end/back-end web developer. I will be looking for full-time positions in the Valley, since I’ve also made up my mind about going to where the air smells of bits and bytes.
Hope to bring you a much more focused joshkim.org in the next couple of weeks. I want to make promises, but I’ll probably end up breaking them anyway. I’ll just try my best.
But a small furry green man told me to do something else, though…
