Just Cut It Off

While I was looking on Amazon for wrist supports (yes, the pain has returned, and I blame Guitar Hero), I decided to go see the top 10 items sold in the category of “Wrist Supports”.

Kinda funny how the most popular item was:

Wrist Guillotine

Yes. “Bagel Biter – The Original Bagel Guillotine Slicer”.

Why is it in all caps? I don’t know. But from what I gather, I guess I’m just supposed to cut off my wrist to alleviate the pain.

Where's Your Facebook Now?

I can’t access my facebook. Can YOU?

EDIT: I guess it’s fixed. Why is facebook hiccuping so much in the past week… Oh, right. Maybe it has to do with Beacon, and how not a whole lot of people are enjoying the Advertising… 2.0.

And with that, I’ve met my quota of saying anything two point oh.

Akin to that awkward talk with someone you haven't talked to in a while…

It’s kinda like that with this blog. Even when I tried as hard as I could to start up the blogging insanity last week over Thanksgiving, I just couldn’t. And there’s a definite reason.

It’s called: the Wii. Darn you, amazing console that gives me hours and hours of enjoyment!

But the question is… what on the Wii has been sucking up my time?

Ever since I bought a friend of mine Guitar Hero for PS2, I was enamored with… wait. Let’s go even further back. Before Guitar Hero. Before Dance Dance Revolution.

Dance Freaks

There was. Dance Freaks.

Now with a little bit more research, I found out that this little game was called “Dance Maniax”, but the version I played at Regionals for Mu Alpha Theta, the nerdy math club that was, was the Korean one.

If I ever run into one again, I will play it.

I give you, exhibit A:

Dance Freaks!

Another tangent. I miss that MIT shirt. Where are you?

Yet another, who took this picture? And who did I get it from?

Right, so back to the point.

Music + Game + Wildly Flailing Limbs and/or Fingers = Fun

Ever since GH3 came out, this blog fell on the list of priorities. Really really quickly. I guess you could say… GH3 made me buy… the Wii and a TV.

That single game cost me $1K.

Of course, I get other uses out of the Wii and the TV, but the point still stands: the catalyst for the purchase was made because of this game.

Freaking… video games…

This is why I need more control. CONTROL, darn it.

Super Mario Galaxy: Best Game Ever Created by Man

So back to the rest of the post

Right. The little hiatus was fun. It was a good time for refreshment and refocusing. After all, I definitely needed it.

Settling down here in Champaign hasn’t been too rough. It has been kind of interesting seeing old and new faces. Trying to reconnect with some people have been hard, but then again, I’m realizing more and more about relationships in general. (A post… to come… ooh, segue!)

The Date of My Birth

More on this subject later. The post I’ve been working on has been eating away at me all week… it’s turning out to be an opus magnum of sorts… But anyway, expect it, hopefully tonight.

Next Phase: MBA?

One of the many reasons for coming back to Illinois was for the free tuition. I was planning to take some random classes while I was here, anyway… maybe some language ones… or some film classes.

More importantly, though, I was really on the fence about going back to school for an MBA… after all, I wanted to see how far I could go in my endeavors without any “formal” business training “on paper”.

They have a couple of options here at Illinois for this MBA degree. It looks like, though, the only one that will suit my needs… will be the part-time program. This program isn’t covered by the free tuition deal, but there are two scholarships for employees of the University.

But first things first: I will have to restart my GMAT studies. I’ve studied it before, so it won’t be too bad, but I’ll have to pick a test date. Hmm.

Church?

CFC. Oh, CFC.

To sum it all up: I’m “back”. But with an even clearer calling in mind. Still more bitter than sweet, but pushing forth, pushing forth.

Um. More?

I don’t know. What else should I write here to force myself to come back and write more. Make more empty promises? Heh.

This post has been brought to by the server outage at work. Now back to work.

2 hours versus 50 minutes

I will never buy a USB external hard drive again.

I love you, FireWire. Why haven’t you been in my life earlier?

Which reminds me, I need leopard even more now that I have half a terabyte of delicious backup.

I wonder if LaCie sells hard drive enclosures that are exactly like the one I bought…

Back in the ‘Nati. Cincy. Whatever. Black Friday, anyone? More hard drives? I personally need to buy some clothes…

BEHIND! Oh so behind…

Overdue Posts...

These posts sit here… festering away as time passes… as more relevant posts are made by other bloggers…

I feel as though I’ve lost the writing rhythm I had back in the heyday. I gotta get it back.

And not just random personal posts either: Those are “supposedly” easier to crank out. I don’t have to link to relevant posts or anything like that. For those, I can just sit through and just pull it out of my stream of consciousness. Those just take time to edit and make a little bit more coherent.

I’ll try to make a more conscientious effort to finish some of those posts.

Oh, and personal posts are important too, I guess. I have a doozie of a post coming up… more like a Month in Review sort of posts. Yikes.

Mario… Mario… SO GOOD!

First off, I was able to get the $25 gift certificate from Toys R Us. From what I heard from the friendly cashier lady, there were 12 copies left besides the pre-ordered ones yesterday, and those were sold out. I was somehow able to come in at the right time (lunchtime, w00t) and just waltz out with the goods.

Let me tell you: This game… was made for the Wii. In another words: The wii was made for this game. But since the Wii came before the Super Mario Galaxy, the former statement makes more sense.

It’s cute. It’s friendly. It’s childish in the sense that it uses bright colors and is approachable. But really, it takes a more mature mind to appreciate some of the level design. I see lots of places where this game could have failed: camera angles, gravity issues, difficulty.

I’m amazed at how all of it is perfect. I have yet to have any issue with any part of the game play. The two player mode is superb.

And with that said, I’m going to take it easy. Easy does it…

Guitar Hero 3. Zelda. Super Mario Galaxy. I sure have a lot to play

Is it just me, or is the GMail Spam Filter sucking it up right now

I’ve gotten at least 4 spam messages in my inbox today. What’s the deal, google?

It seems like this recent spammage can be categorized to two:

  • Chinese: I have no idea what the actual email means… but I bet it probably has to do with the Internet boom going on in that country.
  • Very cleverly disguised: Starts out with a simple hello, and really seems like a human being wrote it. Minus the small 2-line random alphanumeric mess at the bottom of the message. (Oh, that and the actual content of the message.) You even see the people this message was sent to in the CC field.

So I don’t know… I’m sure google will fix it. It’s just kinda annoying clicking on “Report Spam”.

Okay… These Commercials Are Getting On *MY* Nerves

Apple – Get a Mac

They’re sounding more and more condescending as time goes on.

No matter what the “truth” might be, the condescending manner that these ads put forth kinda disgust me.

Maybe it’s just be finally learning to see both sides of the picture even more?

It’s true that people are switching back to XP. But hey, I might consider the same… for the games…
