It’s weird. I’ve been trying to get iTunes 8 through Software Update, but the update never showed up today. So I decided to visit the main site itself, and lo and behold:

Sidebar on Genius playlists: Genius. And, another great example of how features don’t make a company. There goes a couple online startups’ business model. I’m left to wonder, though, where the heck is the Apple social networking app that I’ve been waiting (and thinking about creating)? MobileMe definitely ain’t cutting it yet.
Really? I just got home after seeing the talk online and got/installed the update. They seemed to made some other tweaks to the interface. Genius.. interesting. No more having 20 odd smart playlists to pseudo-program in some intelligence into playlists (see what I did there?). One question though, how come there was no mention of adding Genius functionality in the iPhone OS 2.1 update?
Some of the changes have actually been made to the info screen making it more functional…
of course there’s always the chance that I just hadn’t noticed the changes from an earlier update.
ooh. also finally having auto-sizing info columns is a nice touch.
