Skype over 3G

“My subscription comes with 250 MB of data per month… With 750KB/minute, this equals 4.4 hours of free Skype conversation. Which is something I would never ever reach which means that at least with skype-enabled people, I can talk for free now.”

This is some good info for someone who wants to somehow not have to deal with the phone part of the cell phone companies.

Master Foo And You

Go read Rootless Root. It’s by ESR, so you know it’s good.

Some favorite snippets that I need to come back to later.

“Which one will reach the other side of the river: The one who dreams of a raft, or the one that hitchhikes to the next bridge?”

Master Foo and the Old Hand

“When you are hungry, eat; when you are thirsty, drink; when you are tired, sleep.”

The Sitch

I’m going to be working as an Application Programmer Analyst II at the South Nevada Health District come Monday. Plenty of Ruby in my future, which makes me all the more happy. Looks like a new MacBook Pro 15″ is forthcoming as well. Good thing, because I was getting tired of… my own MBP 15″.

This new job means that I’ll be in Vegas a bit longer. Good thing, too, because I wanted to keep playing in my band, Bears Say Rawr.

This new job also means that I can go out and get some serious guitar gear. Just in time for the Halloween gig, it seems. Getting very excited for it.

I was also goaded by one of my roommates, Amir, to get the GTX 460 and StarCraft 2. Needless to say, looks like gaming is back in full swing.

And that’s when I realized: It’s Projamming, Gaming, and Guitaring from here on out.

And that’s my unfortunately boring update. It’s all about me these days, and that’s got to change on this blog.

And We’re Back

That was painless. Coming to you from the servers at Rackspace.

In the meanwhile, I did some moving with my domains as well. Good riddance, GoDaddy. I am now with the lesser of two evils, NameCheap. They haven’t done anything to anger me too much yet. UI isn’t completely retarded like GoDaddy’s is.

Switching Servers

It’s that time again. Now I’m moving to Rackspace hosting, graciously offered to me by Derek Remund.

Derek, me know how you want me to link you on the Internetz, btw.

Site’s probably going to down for a day, but hopefully it’ll be back up sooner than that.

Livereload: 1.4 Issues, Haml and Sass Files

Haml and Sass files are not included by default for livereload. I found this out as I was working on a static site mockup using Sinatra.

Take a look at the .livereload file in the directory you were running livereload in. Add this line to make the magic work.

config.exts << 'sass', 'haml'

Also, be sure to not be using livereload 1.4 right now. Make sure you’re using the 1.3 version of the extension also, as per this thread on github. Don’t delete the extension after you’ve installed it to Chrome, because Chrome doesn’t copy over the files into its own plugin folder somewhere. (This is, of course, from experience.)

// The problem I’m having right now when I want to share about all the lovely little issues and solutions I find is that I don’t like to blog it. I’m working on a different journaling system entirely. This post only happened because I’ve been in a blogging mood recently on multiple Tumblogs. Goes to show, keep doing it, whatever it is, daily, and it’ll become a part of your daily process.
