Dean Knox Day #3

As Jay Chow came up on the iTunes playlist, I had to ask the question about Chinese music.

The question was: How can Chinese music be sung with intonations?

The answer: All intonations are disregarded.

Then I found out that it will be extremely difficult for me to really “get” Chinese. Intonations must be much harder than I thought them to be, originally… I mean, I still can’t get the four tones of Mandarin. I think I’m going to take “learn to speak Chinese” off the list of things I want to get done. I’ll at least go and focus on them Chinese characters for both Korean 한자 and Japanese 漢字.

And yes, I know this is cheating… However, I did write the beginning of this entry yesterday.

Okay, time for the actual entry for today.

Dean Knox, Day #2

After getting up pretty early in the morning, we both headed to the Graduate Library. I finally got to find out what Microfilm and Microfiche looked like, since Dean had some crazy researching he needed to do for his professor… something to do with energy usage from Venezuela, dating back do about a century.

The dinner was… Alfredo Fettuccine with a lovely fruit salad. I am stuffed. This was quickly followed by a discussion… this time not of religion… but about political, social, and economical forces in our society. Then it quickly led into a discussion about relationships in general.

Let’s see… oh, and I finally got started on making this blog a little bit more usable. I started tinkering with my FeedBurner account… and man, this service is amazing. I’m amazed at how much functionality is packed into the free account…

Sidenote: One of my resolution was to bench my weight before the end of the year. For some reason, I was able to max out on it yesterday. I guess new resolution is to be able to start on 45’s. Yummy.

Reminder to self: Do NOT start on the Olympic bar for forearms. Start with short bar, and then work up to the Olympic bar…

Note: My arms will be in pain tomorrow. Ugh.
