Tomorrow’s Plan

I really really hope I can just find a nook, get a cup of coffee, and write write write.

To Grainger I go!

Maybe the last time…?

Another Personal Update

Yes, I realize there’s been a lack of actual content with the blog.

I apologize.

Instead, you keep getting my personal ramblings. Yikes.

I’m currently working on an entry on Facebook and how it’s changing social networking in the real world, as well as a post on why I started buying books again, especially technical books.

Yahoo! Homework is going swimmingly. I’m almost set, except for a little JavaScript magic which should take about an hour, as well as going for a couple more bonus points for compatibility with multiple browsers. That’ll be most of tomorrow spent at Grainger.

Which brings me to a few things I have to finish up as I leave Grainger. Subversion demo/presentation is tomorrow at 10, and so I am completing some documentation for that.

Need coffee. Not an all-nighter, but I just need a boost.

By the way, Dave Brubeck is amazing. Someone please point me to some other good Jazz musicians… this is a new genre of music I need to continue exploring.

Oh, and beer tasting. Something tells me I’ll be… slightly inebriated tomorrow.

Let’s see… more randomness…

Grainger’s full today. All the nerds are studying for their finals. Why wasn’t I like this back in the day…

Oh one last thing I’ve realized… I cannot get work done at my apartment here on campus. One thing, my apartment is not very inviting for work, because of the horrible desk height/chair combo (as well as the lighting). I’m going to have to revisit some ergonomic issues later, but… looks like it doesn’t really matter much anymore. I’m really amazed that I got any work done in the past 4 months there… wow.

A larger issue is that… I have a feeling I really do have to get out from where I sleep to get work done. Be it the kitchen table… or even a separate office room. This is all, of course, planning for the days of the start-up.

Look at the time, back to work!

For All Engineers

If you’re at Grainger… who am I kidding… You engineers…

While at Grainger, if you get tired or just bored or if you’re taking a break… do this.

Step outside. If it’s night… wait a minute… you’re engineers…

It’ll be night. Look up to the skies, to the stars, and know you’re not alone. As many as there are the stars so are other engineers in the world… studying. Most of them have passed on, and they’re studying up there in the heavens.

Look at the moon. Isn’t it pretty? I love the moon. One of the many reason why I do: Every night I go to the library, I take a mental picture of what phase the moon is in. This reminds me of how every night, every hour spent studying slowly builds up to a bright heavenly celebration: the Full Moon. Then when it starts to wane into oblivion… like your ranking in one of those amazingly difficult classes… just know that the moon will shine again. Fills me with hope AND joy. It’s a twofer. And don’t all engineers love efficiency?

After you’ve done that, start running. Run. RUN. Run as if you had your fellow classmates running this race around the engineering quad, and whoever came back to the front doors of Grainger first would get a 4.0. For life. Even for those classes you’ve already taken!

Run south, passing that weird looking statue thing. That second turn is killer, since the sidewalk curves outside and away from the tiny river.

Don’t you feel it? It’s like the buildings that surround the engineering quad are filled with the spirit of the engineers who’ve come and gone.

Then, as you near the door… as you ignore those apparent stares of “What is that kid doing” and “Did he finish his senior design project?”, catch your breath. Look up to the starry night once more, and smile.

And then, hit the books. No more of this silly metaphor crap.

What the HECK!

No one at ISR. Grainger’s Closed. The third magical door at Siebel is locked.

Where is a man supposed to go and get some work done around here?

Instead, I ended up wasting an hour, driving around.

I guess not all the people are back yet… and the people who are back… are total lamers. Tee hee. I’m kidding. I met like… a TON of people at WIMPE. Let’s see… I met James, my past small group leader. I met Andrew Lee (who called me a gym rat, by the way… I guess I do go daily, but I’m not a “gym rat”… that status is reserved for those that are jacked out of their minds, and that isn’t me), last year’s small group member. I was so happy to run into my Kim Jong Gook AKA David Yi. I still remember when I christened him with that name… and when he started to watch Xman like insane. Oh, and I also ran into Andrew Wu! WU WU! It was sooo long since I saw that kid. I thought he graduated and moved onto better things… but he’s here! Now the ISR 8 reunion is looking more possible by the minute. Vincar and Mike Lee was also there. I swear, that Vincar kid is getting enormous. Mike… he’s always enormous. But yes, it was all these cool guys. Only guys. Boo girls. Boo.

But yes, before WIMPE: I drove to church with Brian. After an amazing sermon on how we should act with eternity in mind, I rocked out with David Kim and Bi AKA Matt Lee with Brian Liu at my place. It was some good times with the Chinese Black Bean Noodles… I only know the less salty Korean “Jja Jang Myun”. Oh, and the Bears won. I think I might have to start getting into football again… just to keep up with everyone.

I had a baked potato today, disregarding the carbohydrates that I’d be consuming. Screw that. Potatoes are yummy. But the baking took way too long… but be the weaksauce toaster oven.

Man, I need to stop hanging around Dan Sun. I’m going to start attaching “-sauce… age” to everything I say. I might be going to WIMPE yet again with that kid “tomollo”. Frick.

Another week has started. Are YOU ready?

Actually, for those that just got back, it’s a start of a new semester after tomorrow! Hope all things will go well, if not, better than last semester. I know I’ve got my goals… I know you’ve got yours. Rock out! For whoever or whatever you live your life for!

And freaking… I need to write my thoughts on the iPhone. People are bugging me left and right, because they think I’m some crazed Apple fanatic. (Which I am… but still… there’s some issues with the iPhone…)
